Straw Bale Gardens make VERY efficient use of water.
Each bale will hold about three and a half gallons of water when fully saturated.
The tube shape of straw is perfectly suited to retaining enough moisture for your plants to drink, without drowning them.
It’s also easy to avoid over-watering your bales, because you can just watch for runoff at the bottom of the bale. That’s thrifty, and it’s also very responsible use of an important natural resource.
